RFC 8092, BGP Large Communities Attribute, is a novel new way to signal information between networks. It improves on classic BGP communities, RFC 1997, especially for use with 32-bit ASNs. In this presentation we’ll introduce BGP Large Communities and their use. We’ll talk about how to develop a comprehensive community policy, what tools are available for testing and for deploying BGP Large Communities, and various application examples, ranging from eyeball/CDN demarcation, to how route server operators or carriers may present traffic engineering features to their customers. Now is the time to start planning for BGP Large Communities to ready your network ahead of customer demands.
