RFC 8092, BGP Large Communities Attribute, is a novel new way to signal information between networks. It improves on classic BGP communities, RFC 1997, especially for use with 32-bit ASNs. In this presentation we’ll introduce BGP Large Communities and their use. We’ll talk about how to develop a comprehensive community policy, what tools are available for testing and for deploying BGP Large Communities, and various application examples, ranging from eyeball/CDN demarcation, to how route server operators or carriers may present traffic engineering features to their customers. ┬áNow is the time to start planning for BGP Large Communities to ready your network ahead of customer demands.
